Miss Australia, Miss Nicaragua and Miss Thailand made the top three at this year's competition.

In this year's Miss Universe 2023 competition, Miss Nicaragua Sheynnis Palacios, Miss Thailand Anntonia Porsild, and Miss Australia Moraya Wilson emerged as the top three finalists during the event held in San Salvador, El Salvador. The trio showcased their individual styles in custom gowns adorned with intricate embellishments like sequins, pearls, and rhinestones.

Miss Thailand, Anntonia Porsild, embraced the sheer trend, donning a crystal-embellished gown featuring star-shaped patterns and beading from Myriad Monde. On the other hand, Miss Australia, Moraya Wilson, exuded elegance in a cream corset dress with a crystal-embellished star detail, crafted by Alin Le’ Kal. The ultimate winner, Miss Nicaragua Sheynnis Palacios, graced the stage in a crystal and pearl-embellished gown with cutout shoulder details and complemented by nude crystal-embellished gloves, paying homage to Nicaragua’s flag.

Palacios was crowned with a stunning tiara designed by Mouawad, the official jeweler for the Miss Universe organization since 2019, while Porsild of Thailand claimed the title of first runner-up.

The competition also featured a swimwear segment with designs by Rubin Singer, coinciding with the release of the Miss Universe organization's collaborative merchandise line available for preorder on missuniverse.com as of November 15.

This year, the Miss Universe pageant underwent significant changes, eliminating the age limit of 28 years old for contestants. Notably, the event marked a groundbreaking moment by welcoming two transgender women, a plus-size model, and mothers into the competition. The 2023 Miss Universe pageant boasted contestants from 86 countries, all vying to succeed R’Bonney Gabriel for the coveted crown.

The ceremony was enriched by a performance from singer John Legend, with Maria Menounos, Olivia Culpo, and Jeannie Mai Jenkins serving as the night’s hosts. Clarisse Designs provided dresses for the opening numbers, and Jojo Bragais took on the role of the footwear sponsor. Additionally, this summer, the Miss Universe pageant introduced a skincare brand designed for women of diverse backgrounds, incorporating botanicals from all seven continents.
