Leaked Apple Videos Offer a Glimpse of What It’s Like To Use The $3,500 Vision Pro

Internal videos released to beta developers show how users can navigate Apple’s upcoming mixed reality headset

Apple released the sixth beta of its upcoming $3,500 Vision Pro VR and AR headset on Tuesday, and though the beta was only meant for the eyes of developers, new device onboarding videos included in the release have leaked to the public. These short videos reveal for the first time how to set up and navigate the virtual/augmented reality headset.

A 35-second video, obtained by 9to5Mac, tells beta users that the Vision Pro responds to eye movements and hand gestures. They're instructed to browse through elements of the system by looking at them, and then simply tap their fingers together to “click” on things.

Scrolling requires pinching the fingers together and flicking them. The Apple Vision Pro will detect these hand gestures wherever the hands are in relation to the body, whether resting in the user’s lap or by their sides.

Another beta video seen by 9to5Mac and posted on X by user M1Astra walks Vision Pro owners through making a 3D Persona for FaceTime. The user has to take off the device, hold it at eye level, and turn their head from one side to another. The setup process even involves registering facial expressions, such as smiling and raised eyebrows.

The Apple Vision Pro will be available for purchase to the general public early next year. According to The Information, Apple may have looked into the potential health applications for its mixed reality headset, including identifying depression and anxiety based on subtle facial cues.
